MINE DEVELOPMENT GEOLOGIST

$80,000 to $90,000

General Responsibilities: Applies geologic principles and practices to characterize, map and model ore deposits for use in the development of detailed mine plans. Directs exploration and development drilling programs to ensure adequacy of quality reserves for mining. Specific areas of responsibilities are as follows:


Directs and supervises company wide exploration and drilling programs.

Develops geological models and prepares reserve estimates of company’s
ore deposits.

Provides geologic due diligence in support of acquisition opportunities.

Secure long term reserves through the negotiation of mineral leases and property purchases.

Provides support in the development and monitoring of mine plans and in the evaluation of mine methods and equipment.

Provides mineralogical expertise on quality related issues and projects.



Required Skills, Abilities and Talents:

Proficient in verbal and written communication.
Ability to adjust, make decisions and take appropriate risk.
Ability to think in 3D.
Knowledge of ACAD and mine planning software.


Knowledge Area:

Industrial minerals experience preferred in an environment where both geological and mining concepts were applied. Experience in securing and in the negotiating of mineral leases and land a plus.

Minimum Requirements:

BS in Geology or Mine Engineering with preference being given to those having Masters degree.
Minimum 5 years experience with company involved with the development and extraction of mineral raw materials.

Climate:

Travel over 40 percent of time. Works with minimum of supervision. Requires a
flexible work schedule. Works closely with all levels of plant and corporate
departments and personnel. Will involve high level of interaction with property
owners, government agencies and outside consultants and contractors.
